Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in Phnom Pehn

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is a museum in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia detailing the horrific killings led by the Khmer Rouge with Pol Pot as the leader. The place is used to be a school – Tuol Svay Pray High School, which was then renamed as S-21 (Security Office 21).

The school was turned into a torture, interrogation and execution center. An estimated of around 14,000 people entered the killing center, but only seven of them had survived.

The first floor of the school was used as individual cell while the second floor was used as a mass detention center.

One survivor of  the horrendous killings is Bou Meng. Bou Meng was tortured, and his wounds were washed with salt. After that, his wife was killed.

Going to the museum like this is depressing. However, it is worth a visit to immerse ourself in the event that happened in the past.
