Trying to break the paper and pencil task that you are doing with your child at home? You may want to do some hands-on activities with your child. Here are five Science activities that you can do with your child at home:
Teeth Experiment. Instill the importance of brushing teeth with your child by doing this simple experiment. The materials for this experiment are easy to find in your house. What you will need are two pieces of egg, two bowls, coca-cola and toothpaste. All you need to do is to soak one egg in coca-cola and the other egg to be covered with toothpaste. After a few days, let the children observe what happens to the egg shell of both eggs.
Celery Experiment. Show the importance of water to plants by conducting this experiment. What you will need are celery stalk, food colour, glass and water. Add food colour in a glass of water then put the celery stalk. After twenty minutes, you will see that the celery changes its colours.
Blood Experiment. In this experiment, the children will discover the blood types that are compatible. The materials needed are cups, test tube, dropper or pipette, food color (red and blue), water and marker.
Heart Pump. Is your child curious how the heart works? Do this experiment to demonstrate to your child how the heart pumps blood. The materials needed are balloon, straws, water and container.
Water Xylophone. Explore the different kinds of music notes by using glass bottles! In this experiment, you will be needing eight glass bottles, water and food color. After you make the water xylophone with your child, you may play “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”, “Happy Birthday” or any other easy-to-play songs.
